Metals have been around nearly as long as the world-in one form or another. They may change in form, but they always exist and endure. They have an inherent power in them, from God, from nature, from the past. As an Artist, using metals-and other materials such as Beads, Glass, Bone, Horn, Fiber, Paint, and others-that have come down to us from the far distant past, gives me a measure of power and a connection with the past-both my own and humankinds. It also, gives those pieces of Art-be they figures, talismans, or jewelry-a measure of power.
Who I am, where I'm from, what I do in the "real" world isn't very important. Where I'm going, who I'll become when I get there, what that "reality" will be, are the important questions. But I won't have those answers until I arrive.
